Why Effective Business Writing Is An Important Skill For Leaders?
Success in the business world requires a wide range of skills and the ability to adapt to different situations – but there is one skill that is central to all manner of business tasks: Writing
Kyle Wiens, of iFixit and Dozuki, writes for the Harvard Business Review, “ I won’t hire people who use poor grammar”. People judge you if you can’t tell the difference between their, there, and they are. . .
If you are going to succeed in the world of business, you will need to have a solid grasp of how to write for business in every possible context.
American businesses reportedly lose $ one billion a year due to “ foggy” writing that wastes time, kills contracts, and alienates customers.
Business Writing is the key driver in the world of business and commerce today. Face to face communication is on the decrease globally thanks to the relentless rise of the internet. Technology has made everyone in business a writer. Business telephone calls are scarcer by the day. Without a shadow of a doubt, it e-mails and messaging both as internal and external communications that predominate in today’s technology-driven business world.
There is a price tag for every piece of ineffective business writing we send out. If we get it wrong we can be ignored, or we can impede performance or there can be other costly customers such as loss to other rival companies, simply because they have delivered better. What a shame that so many written messages lead to confusion and misunderstanding –even when people are writing in their native language.
Every time you write, business writers need to think, write, check the meaning, spelling, and grammar. Only then they are really ready to send out their emails or reports if they want their words to work out for and not against them. Effective business writing can make or break your business. There are no shortcuts to quality.
